Living with Stress

Oh MY God.  Why do I do this to myself??  So I have these patent loafers up for auction right now.  I'm selling them for a friend of mine who asked for my help.  I listed them twice for a fixed price and they didn't sell, so I took a chance and listed them as an auction.  Now with 11 hours to go, they've been bid up to $11.50 and have 10 watchers.  And I'm FREAKING OUT because these are worth so much more!  Yes, most of the bidding on an item happens in the final hours, and yes most items actually end up selling for their market value but OH MY GOD WHAT IF THESE DON'T!!

Curious?  Want to Keep Vigil with Me? Click here.

I know, I know, I keep telling you guys not to worry about individual item profits, that you have to take risks to make money, blah blah blah blah.  And I still fully believe that and feel good about it - when it's MY ITEMS at risk! :(

Alright.  So these have 2 bids and 10 watchers.  That means at least 3 people have yet to bid (according to my bidders to watchers ratio philosohpy, which you can find here).  I've been tweeting about them, I'm posting them to Facebook in a minute, and I've emailed a couple of repeat buyers to stir up some interest.  Any other ideas for how I can draw in some traffic in 11 hours??

Rant over.  Thanks for listening.  I'll keep you posted.

The can not handle the stress of an auction which is why I don't list anything at auction unless I don't care what they sell for. I am stressed for you! Also I have found that Sunday nights are not the best to end auctions because everyone is ending on Sunday nights. I personally like tues-thursday IF I list an auction. It sounds to me like you have done all you can with marketing. Keep tweeting it every hour. i will retweet for you. Make sure to use the #ebay hashtag. Good Luck.

Thanks, T. You know, I usually resign myself to losing money before I list an item, but it's not the money that stresses me out, it's what my friend is going to think! I'm sure she won't be mad, but I will be disappointed if the price doesn't go up at least a little because I want to make her as much money as possible.

Can I ask you something, is there a secret to how you promote things on Twitter? I've found that most of the time when I tweet a link barely anyone clicks on it, even when I use the #ebay hashtag. Maybe I just haven't built up enough credibility yet.

I know how you feel. I just sold a bunch of clothes for my girlfriend...listed it at .99 and after fees and my cut she only made $30. I felt really bad about it but she understood because not everything can be a "winner" ya know.

I am relatively new to twitter only on for a couple months and do not use it as much as i should. But I just found tweeting it and having other RT for you is the best way to go. I think as you gain more followers and market yourself more you will get more traffic. I just started joining communities on www.theblogfrog.com and my traffic has JUMPED big time on my blog. So it is a good way to get people looking at your stuff. However, your items are very high end so I am not sure where peeps like that hang out..ya know.

But I understand...
