You HAVE to Make Mistakes

For all my Polyanna cheerfulness and positive attitude, my good friends will tell you my nasty cynical side does like to make a guest appearance once in a while.

Like today.  Funny, up until today I never even considered the possibility that my little business wouldn't go anywhere.  My family (except for my husband) thinks I'm NUTS.  They don't really take me seriously when I talk about my silly eBaying, and I think the word "Bonanzle" sends them into fits of giggles.  But I generally just brush it off.

Today is different, though.  For some reason, I have this discomforting seed of doubt in me today.  Sales have been much slower than before, although I am still selling as you can see by my updated earnings in the header up top.  And I just made that awesome arrangement to sell those incredible handbags, so things should be looking up soon.  But you know, I do have my doubts about my ability to pull all this off sometimes!

And then the little angel sitting on my shoulder reminds me of one of my OTHER life mottos (here are the others in case you missed it: Click here), which is that you HAVE to make mistakes.  Not you CAN make mistakes, but you HAVE to make mistakes.  Human nature is to learn from mistakes.  We don't really learn from successes, it's the hard knocks that teach us our most valuable lessons.  And if you're going to make mistakes, what better way to make them than with a zero-investment business you run off the side of your desk?

So so what if only two legitimate buyers showed up at my virtual event today?  So what if I haven't sold all my items this week?  So what if half the people I follow on Twitter aren't following me back?  And yes, so what if my business tanks??  I'll just start another business.  And another.  And another one, until I get it right!

Right?

Right! I've been re-reading The Secret, I don't know if you've read it or if you've heard about it, but this post reminded me of an excerpt of the book...
"A perfect example to demonstrate The Secret and the law of attraction in action is this: You may know of people who acquired massive wealth, lost it all, and within a short time acquired massive wealth again. What happened in these cases, whether they knew it or not, is that their dominant thoughts were on wealth; that is how they acquired it in the first instance. Then they allowed fearful thoughts of losing the wealth to enter their minds, until those fearful thoughts of loss became their dominant thoughts. They tipped the scales from thinking thoughts of wealth to thinking thoughts of loss, and so they lost it all. Once they had lost it however, the fear of loss disappeared, and they tipped the scales back with dominant thoughts of wealth. And wealth returned. The law responds to your thoughts, no matter what they may be."
Now I know you haven't made a lot of profit, but I'm sure you're gaining trust and loyalty from repeat customers from your great customer service. Also I'm sure you may have some ghost followers, they're just waiting for the right product to buy. I'm sure one of these days I'll be buying from you. One day you will make the profit you're looking for without losing the customer service you provide. And look you were already featured on another blog! For some reason I see you actually ending up writing a book about this ebay/bonanzle/blogging experience and making your profit that way!! Did I just give you a pep talk?? LOL Thank you for sharing your experiences and I really hope this ebaying/bonanzle does make you the profit you deserve!!

Thanks so much for the pep talk! I have heard of The Secret, and I do think you're very much in control of your own destiny.

Feeling much better now that I sold those Manolos!! I do get in a funk once in a while, but I snap out of it fairly quickly.

You know, more than the profit, what I love about this is the thrill of managing my own company. If my company is doing well, then I'm happy because it means I'm doing a good job. If it's not doing well, I eat three tubs of ice cream and feel sorry for myself. :S

Anyway, I don't want the blog to be super commercial, because this venue isn't really about selling you guys stuff BUT if you do ever see something that catches your eye in one of my stores (and that goes for everyone who reads my blog) please know that I will do my best to give you the deal of a lifetime.
